Stride Ahead, Inc.   Equine Assisted Therapies

Stride Ahead, Inc. offers diverse therapeutic riding programs led by professional instructors.  Instructors hold national certifications through the North American Riding for the Handicapped Association ("NARHA") , the Equine Facilitated Mental Health Association (“EFMHA”), and Equine Assisted Growth and Learning Association (“EAGALA”). .

We find strength in our diversity.  Our programs are unique, and our clients and volunteers all bring special knowledge and skills to each session.  Stride Ahead is a community effort bringing together skilled professionals and volunteers to benefit students in grades K-12 with delayed development or emotional issues, all ages in need of community skills based programs, individuals striving against depression, anxiety issues, social anxiety issues, and cancer survivors.

Because we customize programs, our clients receive the best in therapeutic riding.  Stride Ahead serves our community members with cerebral palsy, developmental delay, autism, multiple sclerosis, stroke, visual or hearing impairments, sensory integration disorders, learning disabilities, attention deficit disorder, speech disorders, traumatic brain injury, and spinal cord injury.

Our Team

Instructors teach therapeutic riding in both private and group sessions. They also oversee Hippo-therapy or psychotherapy sessions, provided by licensed physical, occupational, neuro-developmental, and speech therapists. Our Instructors have been active with various state, regional, and national NARHA conferences including a rigorous continuing education schedule along with developing presentation ideas and data for various functions.

Volunteers

Highly trained volunteers lead the horse and walk beside the rider as needed. A progressive volunteer training program is the root of our volunteer base. Safety Equipment is provided within our program inclusive of: Helmets, safety stirrups, mounting ramps, mounting blocks, and ladder or rainbow reins.

If you are interested in becoming a volunteer, please download our latest volunteer package and schedule your volunteer orientation date.  We offer training and orientation classes for large groups and corporate teams.
